Health Benefits

November 13, 2020 Tea

I’ll make no claims of tea preventing cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, low blood pressure, etc. This is not a topic that I am interested in, nor one I want to take a hard stance on. It’s not the reason why I drink tea, nor a reason why I enjoy tea. Regarding the topics mentioned above though, it seems plausible to say that tea may some health benefits concerning them. Here’s some studies for references, in case you’d like to dig in!

My opinion is: It seems that tea is a healthy drink, and I can notice a calm, alertness in my mind when I drink it. This is the effect of an amino acid in tea called L-Theanine working with caffeine in tandem.

Theanine binds with caffeine and slows its absorption in our blood streams. Caffeine from coffee hits me super hard (sometimes I get the jitters) and it suppresses my appetite. The alertness is similar from both drinks, but I feel more of a need to get my energy out when I drink coffee; but feel no such need when I drink tea.
